Rules For Keepers

At the end of each season, managers will choose seven players on their roster to keep for the following season. One of those players will be a "rookie keeper" -- the rules for their eligibility are here. The other six will be selected based on their end-of-year rankings in the Yahoo! system. Managers may keep players as follows:

  • #1-25: 2 players
  • #26-50: 2 players
  • #51-100: 1 player
  • #100+: 1 player
If a team does not have enough high-ranking players on their roster, or if they'd prefer to keep lesser-ranked players, they are allowed to retain an extra player from the level below. For instance, a team could keep one player ranked between 1-25, and three players between 26-50.

Keepers must be named within 15 days of the conclusion of the World Series each season. If a manager fails to name his keepers on time, he will be assigned his best available keepers by ranking, ensuring a core of solid players, but perhaps not the ones with the greatest upside or long-term potential.
